May we bring our other children?
Absolutely! Parents' and Family Weekend is for the whole family.
Grandparents, brothers, sisters, relatives, are all welcome!
What's the weather going to be like?
November in Santa Barbara is usually in the high-60s to low-70s.
The campus is right on the coast and usually has a heavy fog
in the mornings and late evenings.
What is the dress?
Casual. Comfortable walking shoes are suggested, as well as
dressing in layers—because the campus is situated on the
coast, the weather is often unpredictable.
Can you help us find a hotel?
The best way to find a hotel room is to check the Web site
www.santabarbaraca.com
for a list of local hotels and motels in the Santa
Barbara/Goleta area.
What time does the first event start?
Our first scheduled event - Campus Tours - begins
on Friday, November 6th at 9:30AM. We also encourage parents
and families to attend classes with their students, or classes
you might have a specific interest in. There will be a full
listing of all classes at Friday's Check-In (9:00AM - 4:00PM). Check
with your student regarding instructor's approval for
classroom visits.
What time do the weekend events conclude?
The scheduled events for Parents' and Family Weekend
will end at approximately 3:00PM on Sunday, November 8th.
When should we receive registration materials,
and will we get a confirmation?

materials can be found online at www.ia.ucsb.edu/pfw/2009/PFW-09-brochure.pdf. If you have questions, you may contact the Office of Public Events at:

May we reserve a spot in a tour that we
are particularly interested in attending?
Yes! Some tours offered during Parents and Family
Weekend require sign-up at check-in. The tour limits are set
typically at about 25-30 people per tour.
May we attend even if our son/daughter
is a prospective student?
You are welcome to attend, however, Parents' and Family Weekend
is designed for the parents and families of current students.
For programs geared towards prospective or incoming students,
please contact the Visitor's Center at (805) 893-8175.
Will there be transportation and
parking for disabled family members?
Disabled guests should park in Lot 22, 12 or Lot 14.
Guests who may have difficulties walking slight rolling hills
and the length of campus should consider bringing a wheelchair.
Where do my registration fees go?
UCSB Parents' and Family Weekend is not a state-supported program. Registration fees are used to cover the cost of Parents' and Family Weekend services such as mailings, materials, supplies, use of facilities and numerous other expenditures.
| Helpful Tip: Plan a meeting time and
place with your UCSB student ahead of time. Also, be sure
to have their campus address and phone number on hand for
emergencies. |
