Campus Dining Commons Students who are housing residents may bring family members to meals at the campus dining commons, and charge their BARC statement or pay by credit card at $12.00/person/meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hours vary slightly in each of the four dining commons' locations during the week. Carrillo, De la Guerra and Portola are open 7 days a week. Ortega is NOT open on weekends. Carrillo, De la Guerra, and Portola serve weekend brunch, 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and dinner is served 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Additionally, pre-paid guest meal cards can be purchased in advance by residents for $12/person/meal at either Portola or the Housing and Residential Services Office next to De la Guerra Dining Commons. The Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve protects a wide variety of coastal and estuarine habitats and is one of the best remaining examples of a
coastal-strand environment in Southern California. In this guided 2 hour tour, naturalists will talk about how the Reserve is used by
researchers and students of the university and show some of the ongoing preservation programs. Waiver forms are required. Children under age 18

Up to 20 climbers can climb the largest imprint rock wall on the West Coast. UCSB’s 30-foot imprint climbing wall has natural features built in, making it look and feel more like
real rock! Equipment and training are provided for $15/22 each (UCSB Student/Non-Student). Waiver forms are required and can be filled out at the Rec Cen. There is no age limit to climb, however it is requested that children

Study of the Mind**

It's hard to conceive of a topic of more broad and personal interest than the study of the mind. The Brain Imaging Center presentation will discuss the underlying fascination with how the mind works and how it affects what we do. Observe how the MRI system is used for research in cognitive/mind neuroscience. The ultimate goal of the center is both highly ambitious and refreshingly simple: when you understand the mind, you understand the human condition. Presentation limited to 15 people. Wild, witty, forever beguiling to all who see him, Philippe Petit has extended the boundaries of theater, music, writing, poetry, drawing and filmmaking to become an inimitable
high wire artist. He is the subject of Man On Wire, the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award-winning film at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and Oscar Award-winner for Best Documentary Feature. In 1974, Petit accomplished what
may be the most astounding "artistic crime" of all time: he walked a high wire illegally stretched between the rooftops of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, a quarter mile above New York City. He will

Join others for a three-hour tour of UCSB's Sedgwick Reserve, located 35 miles northwest of campus in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while exploring this 5,890-acre natural area, known for its stunning vistas and unique biodiversity. Tour the facilities and discover oak woodlands, native grasslands, and chaparral areas reminiscent of historic California. See the area through the eyes of researchers whose projects dot the landscape and increase our understanding of natural history. New San Clemente Restoration Project

Up to 20 climbers can climb the largest imprint rock wall on the West Coast. UCSB’s 30-foot imprint climbing wall has natural features built in, making it look and feel more like
real rock! Equipment and training are provided for $15/22 each (UCSB Student/Non-Student). Waiver forms are required and can be filled out at the Rec Cen. There is no age limit to climb, however it is requested that children
