bobrauschenbergamerica
A play by Charles L. Mee, directed
by UCSB faculty member Tom Whitaker
Performing
Arts Theatre
Theatre UCSB opens its season of drama
and dance with Charles L. Mee's play,
bobrauschenbergamerica, in the
Performing Arts Theatre: Dawn breaks in
a small American town. Mom gets the paper
off of the porch and talks about some
memories of her son, Bob. A trucker muses
on the start of the day. Then, among other
things, lovers argue over relationships
and sex, picnickers discuss the origin
of astronomy, and a derelict man stages
his sensationalist screenplay. bobrauschenbergamerica
is a kaleidoscopic rumination on the idea
of America as well as a study of art and
artifice in everyday life. Tickets are
$17.00 for general admission and $13.00
for students and seniors. Tickets will
be available at the UCSB Arts & Lectures
Ticket Office starting September 10, 2005.
