Graduating students should be aware of these critical dates along the path to receiving a degree from UCSB.

Note to Undergraduate Students

  • Commencement Pass 1
    January 23, 2017 - February 17, 2017
    Seniors with at least 152 units completed or in progress during the winter 2017 quarter are eligible to make a reservation for the spring Commencement ceremony assigned to their major on GOLD.
  • Commencement Pass 2
    February 21, 2017 - March 17, 2017
    Seniors with at least 152 units completed or in progress during the spring 2017 quarter are eligible to make a reservation for a spring Commencement ceremony assigned to their major on GOLD.

Making a Commencement reservation and receiving an official degree require two separate actions on GOLD. Students must declare candidacy to officially graduate. Declarations are made using GOLD. Office of Student Life Commencement details.

  • Last Day to Declare Candidacy to Graduate

    Spring: April 17, 2017
    Last day to declare candidacy for a spring 2017 undergraduate degree.

    Summer: July 10, 2017
    Fall: October 9, 2017
  • Grad Fair
    May 3 - 4, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM    .
  • Final Day – Commencement Reservations
    Friday, March 17, 2017
    Final day for undergraduates to make Commencement 2017 reservations.
  • Regalia
    May 8 - June 16, Regular Bookstore Hours
    June 17 - June 18, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    All graduates must wear regalia (cap and gown) at the June 16, 17, and 18 ceremonies. Regalia should be bought from the UCSB Bookstore.
