Welcome to The Campaign for UC Santa Barbara. We first want to say "thank you" to our many alumni and friends whose generosity has made such a dramatic impact on the overall excellence of the campus. We also look to the future as we launch the public phase of a campaign that will help ensure UCSB's place among the nation's top public research universities.

The Campaign for UC Santa Barbara began July 1, 2000 with a goal of $350 million over seven years. More than half that amount was raised by the time we announced the public phase of the campaign in October 2004. The Campaign Steering Committee, in May 2005, decided to increase the goal to $500 million. A new target date for completion of the campaign has not yet been set. All gifts received during the campaign will count toward the goal.

Contributions to The Campaign for UC Santa Barbara will make a vital difference to the future of the campus. They will enhance teaching and research, strengthen existing areas of excellence, and make it possible to develop new, innovative academic programs. Gifts to the campaign will also provide essential student support, enable UCSB to recruit and retain top faculty, fund capital projects, and help build the university's overall endowment.

Warmest regards,

William R. Rauth '66
