Campus Parking Restricted During Halloween Weekend
WITH HALLOWEEN FALLING on a Sunday this year, parking on campus will be severely restricted for the entire weekend. From 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, through 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, only current UCSB parking permit holders — student night and weekend parking permit holders excluded — will be allowed to park on campus. UCSB students without a current permit can park in designated campus lots using a special pre-issued Halloween pass, valid for the entire weekend. Registered UCSB students can purchase such passes online from Transportation and Parking Services ( http://www.tps.ucsb.edu). While accommodations will be made for visitors who are attending university-approved or sponsored events, all other on-campus parking is prohibited and vehicles in violation will be subject to fines of up to $250 and/or vehicle towing at the owner’s expense. Campus departments that have events scheduled or planned for that weekend should contact Jason Ziebarth, guest services manager at Transportation and Parking Services (jason.ziebarth@tps.ucsb.edu), as soon as possible to arrange for guest parking. Some campus lots will be chained and locked after 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29. More information will be available on the TPS Web site. Visitor parking permits will not be available from parking lot pay machines from 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, through 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30; and from 5 p.m. on Saturday through 6 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. As in previous years, the university is placing advertisements in local and regional newspapers to make the public aware of parking restrictions, road closures, D.U.I. checkpoints, and other measures being taken to keep Halloween festivities in Isla Vista “safe and local.” |
