Federal Stimulus Grants

During a visit to UCSB on Monday, September 28, Congresswoman Lois Capps marked the campus’s receipt of more than $32 million in federal stimulus grants. The funds, made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will support research as well as the preparation of science and math teachers. More than 40 grants already have been awarded to researchers at UCSB, and 79 proposals are currently under review. With Rep. Capps and Chancellor Henry T. Yang are, from left, Arthur Gossard, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and professor of materials; and Pierre Wiltzius, Worster Dean of Science and professor of physics.
