Spring Insight
Spring Insight, the annual campuswide open house is, set for Saturday, April 4, and campus departments are asked to mark their calendars. Approximately 10,000 admitted and prospective students and their families visit the campus during the event, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Spring Insight Committee asks that one or two representatives from each academic and student services department staff a table on campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. A table, two chairs, and a box lunch for each participant will be provided.

HONORS & AWARDS
S. Rao Jammalamadaka, a professor of statistics and applied probability, has been named an adjunct professor at the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute for Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the Central University of Hyderabad, India. The institute promotes research and advanced study in mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
David Siegel, a professor of geography and director of the Institute for Computational Earth System Science, has been elected a 2009 Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). The AGU is an international scientific organization with over 50,000 members from more than 130 countries.
PUBLICATIONS
Mario T. García, a professor of Chicana and Chicano studies and of history, has published “A Dolores Huerta Reader” (University of New Mexico Press, 2008). Huerta, a farm labor leader and civil rights advocate, worked with Cesar Chavez as a community organizer in Mexican American areas of southern California in the mid-1950’s.
TRANSITIONS
Anne Branch has been named Director of Development, Regional Giving. She will be responsible for regional fundraising in San Francisco and the Bay area. Previously, Branch was director of development for the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis.
