The Rupe Conference iS one of several events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Department of Communication (and the 15th anniversary of its Ph.D program). Other events include an open house and reception in April.

Established in 1984, the communication department has been cited as one of the top programs in the country for faculty research productivity. In addition, its graduate program ranks among the top in national surveys conducted by the National Communication Association.
