| Spanning the threshold of UCSB’s east entrance, the 102-foot-long Henley Gate welcomes students and visitors as they approach the campus from Highway 217. The new entrance was funded with private donations, including a major gift from alumnus Jeff Henley and his wife, Judy. UC Santa Barbara Foundation Trustee Judith L. Hopkinson, a UC Regent, also made a major gift for the project. The structure is not just a gate to the campus, Henley noted at the gate’s official dedication in July, “but also a gateway to learning.”
