‘Outside Vendor’ a Chilling Concept

I was deeply disturbed by the 93106 article (April 14, 2008) re the “restructuring” of UCOP, particularly the reference to the possibility of contracting with an outside vendor for administration of retiree benefits.
The outsourcing of our pension fund management has already led to a significant drop in the performance of that fund. And I find it difficult, confusing, and frustrating having to now go through Fidelity Investments to deal with my retirement savings accounts.
My previous experience with UC staff handling this had been a very good one.  The idea of another “outside vendor” now handling all retiree benefits gives me chills as I contemplate retirement sometime in the next few years!
