Halloween Parking Plans Announced

With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, Transportation and Parking Services (T&PS) is again restricting parking areas while still dispensing free permits for limited on-campus parking to students living in Isla Vista.
The permit dispensers on campus will not sell permits from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, said Bob Sundberg, T&PS associate director.
Vehicles parked on Del Playa must be moved off the street by noon on Friday, Oct. 26, or risk being towed, he added.
Holders of valid parking permits need do nothing extra to access campus parking for work or study. However, UCSB students without a regular permit who live in I.V. and want some protection for their vehicles during Halloween and the weekend before may apply for a free campus permit online <www.tps.ucsb.edu>. Short-term night and weekend permits will not be honored.
Pre-ordered Halloween permits can be picked up at the T&PS booth in front of the UCen, starting on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The booth will open at 10 a.m. through Friday.
Departments scheduling events during the pre-Halloween weekend or for Halloween night are requested to contact Carolyn Buford (x8749), chair of the Major Events Committee to get their events approved.
One structure—22 Parking near the Events Center—will be the main holding area for Isla Vista students’ cars, while lots 30 and 38 will be overflow areas for Halloween parking. Signs will be posted on lots chosen for chain barriers. Direct questions to T&PS at x2346 during office hours.
