Elections Begin for UCRS Advisor Board


The election to select two employees who are not members of the Academic Senate to serve on the University of California Retirement System (UCRS) Advisory Board will be held online, beginning today, May 29, and running to June 22, 2007.
One of the 12 candidates is Trish Hiemstra, Human Resources benefits manager, and the only candidate from UC Santa Barbara. Other campuses with one candidate are UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz. UCLA has fielded four candidates, UC San Francisco and UC Merced two each. UCOP also has one candidate.
According to election rules, “The two winning candidates must be from different UC locations.”
A list of all candidates for the two seats has been posted at the board election Web site <http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/ucrs_election>. The candidates’ background information and statements have been posted at the site and will be available through the end of the voting period.
Employees eligible to vote (see the link to voter eligibility) will be able to do so by following the “Vote Now” link that will be posted on the election Web site starting today.
