L&S College Offers Leadership Opportunities
A one-year, staff professional development program that prepares participants from all over campus for possible leadership positions in the College of Letters and Science will take applications the entire month of May. Applications include an online form, a resume, and two letters of recommendation, one of which must come from the applicant’s supervisor. Application materials must be received by Mary Lum in Cheadle Hall 2217 (mail code 2080) by May 31. Finalists will be interviewed during June for between 10 and 15 openings. Participants, who are paired with mentors for the training, must be career staff who have completed probation and are at least at the administrative assistant III level. For details about curriculum topics and application procedures, go to the Web at < http://www.ltsc.ucsb.edu/faculty-staff/leadership-development -program>. The program organizers also encourage would-be applicants to talk to the mentors, who are listed on the site. This is the second year of the L&S program, which is designed to augment existing training opportunities. Other staff leadership development programs are available in other departments, such as Housing and Residential Services, and divisions (see < www.ia.ucsb.edu/ps/education.aspx>). |
