A 14-ton magnet, which is the heart of a new magnetic-resonance imaging machine (MRI), was carefully off-loaded last month from its transport truck to its new home in the Brain Imaging Center in the Psychology East Building’s basement. The noninvasive device measures metabolic changes in the brain, and is expected to be widely used as a campus research tool. Its official opening date is set for Aug. 1.
