Outreach Project Proposals Due

The Chancellor’s Outreach Advisory Board is again inviting applications for faculty- or staff-inspired programs that serve critical educational needs of K-12 students in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties. Increasing faculty engagement with partner schools is another important goal of the Faculty Outreach Grants, which will usually range under $20,000 but may climb to $40,000.
Proposals for FOG-supported activities, which may be on a one-time or continuing (multi-year) basis, are due by 5 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2007, in the Office of Academic Preparation and Equal Opportunity (APEO). The projects require an evaluation mechanism, which must be reviewed by APEO’s Lisa Figueroa (x3105) no later than one week before submission. See details at < www.apeo.ucsb.edu/ap/index.html>.
Application details or questions can also be addressed to Claudia Martinez (x8123). Award-winning proposals will be announced by March 10, according to Ken Millett and Sarah Fenstermaker, faculty chairs of the advisory board and its FOG committee, respectively.
Though campus department and program staff, as well as faculty, are encouraged to apply, the primary investigator “must be a member of the Academic Senate at UCSB,” according to FOG eligibility criteria. E-mail submission of the proposals in MS Word (or Rich Text Format) to Martinez at claudia.martinez@apeo.ucsb.edu is also acceptable.
