Voter Registration Drive Under Way
Voter registration tables for the Nov. 8 special state election have been set up in front of the UCen and in the Library Plaza, near The Arbor. The nonpartisan, Student Affairs Division-sponsored registration drive will continue through Oct. 24 this year. If a voter has moved, changed his or her name, or wants to change political affiliation, re-registration is necessary. Last year, a similar campus drive brought in approximately 8,600 new or re-registered voters. For more information, go to < www.sa.ucsb.edu/voterreg>, which also has links to the propositions. Eight propositions are on this ballot. They cover issues as disparate as parental notification of a minor’s planned abortion and re-regulation of some aspects of electric power utilities to legislative redistricting and restricting some unions’ political financing freedom. |
