Writing Conference Discounts End Today

More than 250 writing educators from all over the country will participate in a conference at UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 5-6 that will address how best to teach writing to today’s students at all levels of education.
Titled “Writing Research in the Making,” the conference will offer 100 panel discussions to provide opportunities for writing specialists to exchange ideas. Pre-registration, and its discounted admission fee, will close today, Jan. 24. Visit the conference Web site <http://education.ucsb.edu/webdata/research/wrconf05/> for details.
“By bringing together researchers from different disciplines, the conference will encourage the development of new perspectives and new research methods,” said Charles Bazerman, professor and chair of the Education Department in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, one of the chief sponsors of the event.
Other sponsors include the Writing Program, the South Coast Writing Project, the Graduate Division, and the IHC.
