‘CAREER CONTROL’ THEME OF SERIES OF WORKSHOPS


Special, 90-minute workshops are planned for staff employees who seek managerial or supervisory positions. The Staff Assembly, in cooperation with Human Resources and the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council, will present a series of professional development seminars, called “How to Take Control of Your Career,” this month and in February
Workshops will cover effective online application; interviewing dos and don’ts; skill set development; mentoring; and reclassification, according to a Staff Assembly announcement. For more information, e-mail staffassembly@lsit.ucsb.edu.
All workshops will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting Jan. 25 and 26, in the UCen’s Harbor Room. Times will vary to allow for morning or afternoon attendance. This is a partial breakdown:
“Risk Taking: Making Change Happen to Advance Your Career”

Panelists who have made successful job changes at UCSB will tell where they started, and what it took to get where they are today.
“UCSB’s Reclassification Process—Understanding the What, Why, When, and How”
Feb. 1, 10:30 a.m. –noon
Feb. 2, 1–2:30 p.m.
The Human Resource’s Reclassification Department explains what makes a successful reclassification and what causes some to be denied.
“Keys to a Successful Application Process: Online Application, Interviewing, and Job Offer Negotiation Tips”
