Five staff members and one campus department were recognized with Margaret T. Getman and William J. Villa Service to Student Awards at the Student Affairs divisional meeting on June 4. The annual awards, named for the former Dean of Student Residents and the former Director of Admissions, respectively, honor staff and faculty members and departments that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the general growth and development of students and to the quality of student life on campus. Vice Chancellor Michael Young and Wilfred Brown, executive director of housing and residential services, presented plaques to Getman Award winners (from left) Lupe Navarro Garcia, Campus Learning Assistance Services; Eric Zimmerman, Department of Environmental Studies; Angela Andrade, Dean of Students Office; Mark Shishim, Student Health Service; and Joe Sabado, Student Information Systems and Technology. The Villa Award was presented to the Writing Program, Academic Communities for Excellence (ACE).
