| Among the 295 members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers named Fellows in 2008 were three UCSB professors: From left, Bassam Bamieh, professor of mechanical engineering, was recognized for contributions to robust, sampled-data and distributed control; Frank Doyle, professor of chemical engineering, for contributions to nonlinear process control and analysis for biological systems; and João P. Hespanha, professor of electrical and computer engineering, for contributions to stability techniques for switched and hybrid systems.
