Symphony Rehearsal Open to Staff

The Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council and the Santa Barbara Symphony are inviting 150 UCSB staff members to complimentary hors d’oeurves and a free, narrated symphony rehearsal on the evening of April 11.
Though the 6:30 p.m. event will honor all staff, organizer Jack Harris explains, only 150 seats in the Arlington will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for the rehearsal. Sign-ups will be taken on the staff Web site <www.staff.ucsb.edu> no earlier than 10 a.m. on April 2, he adds.
Nir Kabaretti, the symphony’s music director, will conduct the musicians, and piano soloist Lilya Zilberstein, in a rehearsal of selections from Russian romantics: Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky.
Should a staff member want to attend the rehearsal but not be among the first 150 to pre-register, a waiting list will be created for places that might open up, says Harris. Failing that, the symphony will offer deep discounts for UCSB staff, faculty, and students for that weekend’s concerts.
In addition to the symphony, this activity has co-sponsors from all three colleges and the Student Affairs Division.
