Fun at Broida Science Center

Goleta fifth grade students found out how much fun science can be when they recently visited the UCSB Physics Department’s Community Science Center in Broida Hall. Lab manager Bob Pizzi, second from right, playfully demonstrates the push-pull effects of changes in atmospheric air pressure to Brandon School student Jessie Wollert while her teacher, Hugh Ranson, and fellow student Hannah Morelos enjoy the levity. The center, which was set up more than 25 years ago, has about 1,000 to 1,200 visitors a year. Its Web site can be viewed at <www.physics.ucsb.edu/~csc>.
