Beginning on Jan. 17, campus United Way departmental representatives will again be selling Candy Grams for $2 a piece.

It’s that time of year to think not only about to whom to send the Valentine Day’s treats, but also how much to donate to United Way for local people in need.

While Candy Gram sales will end on Feb. 4, United Way pledges and donations will be collected through Feb. 29, according to campaign officials.

Last year, UCSB employees and students contributed more than $122,000 to the nonprofit charities under the UW umbrella. This year Chancellor Henry Yang has set the goal at $125,000.

Also coming up is UCSB’s third annual Volunteer’s Day on Feb. 2. This time, volunteers will help Isla Vista Youth Projects.
