UC Staff Advisor Candidates Sought

Career UC staff members, including non-Senate academic employees, with a minimum of five years service and in “good standing” are eligible to nominate themselves to be the 2008-2010 “Staff Advisor to the Regents,” according to an announcement last month from the offices of UCSB academic personnel and human resources.
The two-year term of service includes one year as “staff advisor-designate.” Currently, Lynda Brewer from UC Irvine is the adviser and Bill Johansen from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is the designate.
Nominations will no longer be accepted after Feb. 29. Requirements for the unpaid position, which was made permanent in January 2007, can be found online at <www.universityofcalifornia.edu/staffadvisors>.
Some time in March the applications will be winnowed to between three and five semifinalists by the UC Office of the President Screening Committee. The semifinalists will be interviewed in April, their number reduced to between two and three, and a final selection will happen at some later point. The new adviser-designate will attend her or his first committee meeting in July.
