Construction on Phase One of the widening of El Colegio Road is under way and is expected to be completed by April 2009. The work is part of the El Colegio Road Improvement Project, collaboratively designed and funded by UCSB and the County of Santa Barbara. El Colegio, seen here from the new San Clemente Village graduate student housing project, will be expanded from two lanes to four, and will feature a raised, landscaped median when Phase Two is completed by next June. Stadium Road is now closed to southbound traffic at the entrance to Parking Structure 50 and Parking Lot 30. It is expected to remain closed until further notice. Westbound traffic is being detoured to Los Carneros Road via Stadium Road and Mesa Road. Two lanes of El Colegio will remain open for access to Isla Vista and the San Clemente parking lots.
