Nov. 27 is the deadline for current employees to change or switch medical plans, enroll in legal insurance, change dental plans, enroll or re-enroll—it must be done annually—in a Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA), and other plans.

While, technically, changes in personal or family coverage can be made online <http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/open_enrollment/index.html> or by phone (800-888-8267) up till midnight, do not count on getting through at the last minute, advises Laura Morgan, UCSB health care facilitator. The last days and hours before the deadline usually finds the communication lines jammed.

Also, UCSB’s Benefits Office, which offers personalized service during open enrollment, will close at its customary time of 4 p.m. on Nov. 27.

All changes made during the open enrollment period will take effect on Jan. 1, 2008.
