MENTORS NEEDED FOR SUMMER PROGRAM
Around 60 carefully selected top, pre-college students from California and the nation will visit UCSB next month on the Research Mentorship Program. But the RMP, now in its 12th year, could use more mentors in most disciplines for its ”truly bright and mature young people,” according to Miriam Polne-Fuller, director of the program. Mentors can be advanced graduate students, post docs, and faculty, Polne-Fuller explained. “We’re looking for researchers who could use a helping hand with their projects, and who would enjoy interacting with serious 16-to 18-year-olds,” she said. Mentors are paid $400 for each “mentee” (up to four per mentor) and receive $200 for supplies. For more details, contact Polne-Fuller at x8950 or < rmp@summersessions.ucsb.edu>. Parents of high school students who might participate in the RMP are also invited to contact Polne-Fuller.
