UCSB Senate Opens Teaching Nominations
Nov. 3 is the deadline for nomination forms to be turned into the UCSB Academic Senate Office, 1233 Girvetz Hall, for the Distinguished Teaching and Outstanding Teaching Assistant awards for 2007. An award for mentoring graduate students, given last year for the first time, requires candidate packets of information and is due in the above office on Dec. 8. Details about the Senate’s nominations process for the three categories as well as the appropriate nomination forms are available at < http://senate.ucsb.edu/awards>. Under the general rules, no self-nominations are permitted for any of the Senate awards. Questions not answered by the FAQ in the Distinguished Teaching Award Guidelines and Procedures, which are repeated in the guidelines for TA awards, may be sent to teaching.awards@senate.ucsb.edu.
Likewise, questions about the Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award not answered by its guidelines can be addressed to graduatementor.awards@senate.ucsb.edu. The first awardees were last year’s psychologist Merith Cosden in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, and Reginald Golledge, professor of geography.
