A UC Irvine assistant director of capital planning is the recently selected 2006-2007 staff adviser to the UC Board of Regents.

Linda Brewer, a 30-year UCI employee and Staff Assembly leader, will serve on the Educational Policy Committee. She was picked from among 27 applicants to continue a pilot program to enhance staff input into regental decision-making.

UC President Robert Dynes and Regents Chair Gerald Parsky made the selection.

Brewer began what is potentially a two-year term as staff adviser on July 1, replacing Dave Bell from UC San Francisco. Current adviser Dave Miller of UCLA will remain an adviser for a second year to provide continuity.

Should the Regents decide to make the Staff Adviser Program permanent, Brewer will serve a second year in 2007-2008 while a new adviser is chosen to replace Miller for a new two-year term.
