DESIGN A LOGO, WIN $100 CASH

CSAC, the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council, is calling on UCSB employees to contribute entries for a new staff logo. The winning design will earn a $100 check and a UCSB Bookstore gift certificate worth $100 for the artist.
All submissions and releases are due by Feb. 1 on the desk of Denise Leming (x7598) in the College of Letters and Science. All but the top three finalists will have their submissions returned. Criteria for contest entries, as well as the release form, can be found on the CSAC Web site <www.csac.ucsb.edu>.
Another new feature on the Web site is called the staff profile, and it is slated to appear there on a regular basis. This will be a personal sketch of an outstanding UCSB staff member. For example, Byron Sandoval, custodial superintendent of physical facilities, is the first subject in this series. CSAC member Jack Harris wrote this profile.
“Byron was a natural for our first profile,” said Harris, Born in Guatemala, Sandoval came to the U.S. in the early 1980s. He was hired for an entry-level position at UCSB Facilities Management and worked his way up.
CSAC needs suggestions for future selections for the series. To recommend an outstanding staff member, e-mail Jack Harris at jharris@music.ucsb.edu.
