Monthly Parking Rates Increase $1

Parking permit rates are scheduled for a modest increase on Nov. 1. Following a months-long debate by the Campus Parking Ratepayers Advisory Board, Chancellor Henry T. Yang has accepted its recommendations: The current $35 monthly fee for general permits (A, S, and C) will increase one dollar a month, to a total of $432 annually.
Permits for reserved parking spaces will go up by $2 a month to $72, said Donna Carpenter, acting vice chancellor, administrative services, in a memo to the campus late last month. Full-day visitors will pay $8, she added.
This is the first general permit rate increase since July 2000, though UCSB started charging for night and weekend parking for the first time in 2003.
A complete list of the new parking rates is posted at <www.tps.ucsb.edu/permAll.aspx> on the Transportation & Parking Services Web site. Questions should be directed to David Gonzales, assistant vice chancellor, facilities management, at x3188.
