INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH

Last year, Chief Jake Swamp, a sub-chief of the Iroquois Six Nations Confederacy, blessed and rededicated the Peace Tree (above) near Storke Tower. At noon on Nov. 1, local American Indian students and staff will gather here to launch American Indian Heritage Month. Swamp originally planted the Tree of Peace 21 years ago at UCSB.
