Senate Salutes Winning Teachers


Six instructors were honored with Distinguished Teaching Awards by the Academic Senate and the UCSB Foundation at a June 2 reception in the IHC’s McCune Conference Room. Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards also went to four teaching assistants at the Faculty Legislature’s meeting Each of the 10 awardees received $1,000.
Faculty recipients for 2004-05 with Senate membership included Nancy Collins, associate professor, psychology; Christopher McAuley, associate professor, black studies; Laury Oaks, associate professor, women’s studies; Kimberly Turner, associate professor, mechanical and environmental engineering; and Richard Wolski, associate professor, computer science.
Cynthia Felando, a lecturer in film studies, was chosen this year for the teaching award given to non-Senate faculty.
