JULY DISTRIBUTION LIKELY FOR AWARDS
Paychecks in July will likely be 5.4 percent fatter than usual for nonrepresented full- and part-time employees, Human Resources Director Cynthia Cronk has announced. The same one-time, lump-sum awards are available to eligible represented employees, if their unions agree to participate in the employee awards program. Employees must have been on the UCSB payroll on both Nov. 1, 2004 and May 1, 2005. If the employee is in the START program, he or she will receive an award based on the percentage of time worked before initiating the voluntary time reduction arrangement, said Carol Houchens, Human Resources information systems manager.
This week department managers and supervisors should
receive lists of eligible employees and the amounts of their awards.

This is a disbursement from the UCSB employee awards program and comes from an assessment on campus departments of 0.5 percent of their annual payroll, Cronk explained. It is a way “to acknowledge the good work of our staff,” she said, adding that senior managers, including the chancellor and vice chancellors, have chosen to be excluded from the awards program. |
