“Reconciling Love—A Millennium Mandate” is the title of remarks by South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize-winner;
9 p.m.: activist and historian Howard Zinn explores the idea of a “just war” in “Embracing Humanity: Truth in a Time of War.”

Dec. 30, 8 p.m.: Jonathan Rauch and Maggie Gallagher clash over the definition of marriage.

Photographer Morgan Alexander takes her cameras into Cuba, Mexico, and the United States for an intimate look at AIDS and its impact on families like that of Maria from Cienfuegos, Cuba (above).

With a focus on the American news media, the annual Arthur N. Rupe Great Debate has been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 3 p.m. in Campbell Hall.
It will examine the question, “The American News Media—Liberal or Conservative Bias?” The debate features author and Nation magazine media columnist Eric Altman on the left, and Tucker Carlson, formerly with CNN’s “Crossfire” and now hosting MSNBC’s “The Situation with Tucker Carlson,” on the right.
