has had problems with the satellite that retransmits UCTV
programming and has not been carrying UCSB programs. However,
the programs below can be seen on Dish Network satellite
(Channel 9412) as well as on the Internet at <www.uctv.tv>.

Seattle
artist James Lawrence Ardeña re-imagines the political
and emotional constructs from the American colonial period
of the Philippines (circa 1898- 1945) through recycled
objects. This exhibition
of photographs by Morgan Alexander spotlights AIDS in
the world. They include images from the United States,
Mexico, and Cuba. Local artist
Bob Dickey, designer of "Sideways: The Map," will display
digital paintings of vineyards, waterfronts, and architecture
in Santa Barbara and France.

With a focus on the American news media,
the annual Arthur N. Rupe Great Debate has been scheduled
for Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 3 p.m. in Campbell Hall.
It will examine the question, “The American News
Media—Liberal or Conservative Bias?” The debate features
author and Nation magazine media columnist Eric Altman
on the left, and Tucker Carlson, formerly with CNN’s
“Crossfire” and now hosting MSNBC’s “The Situation
with Tucker Carlson,” on the right. It is open to
