More than 4,000 new UCSB students and friends gathered near the Campus Lagoon on Sept. 20 for the annual welcome ceremony known as convocation. This year’s keynote speaker was actor John Cleese, who delivered some serious thoughts on how to define one’s own measures of success. More than 1,600 other people connected to the convocation through UCSB Bookstore’s Webcast of the event, reported Ken Bowers, bookstore manager.
