Beginning on Dec. 1, the Campus Cares Canned Food Drive shifts into high gear. Organized by Transportation and Parking Services for the third consecutive year, the drive will collect undamaged, nonperishable food items through Dec. 14 for donation to the Santa Barbara County Food Bank.

Canned and boxed foods may be dropped off between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at four campus locations: the East Entrance kiosk; the Parking Office; inside the UCen; and outside on University Plaza. The 2004 goal is 2,000 pounds, said Elena Ricci, T&PS drive coordinator (x4258).

Last year’s drive collected 1,500 pounds of food for needy local families; triple the poundage from the first year’s effort.
