UC Santa Barbara’s campus safety report for 2003, “Dedicated to the Safety of Our Community,” is now available on the Web at <http://www.sa.ucsb.edu/policies/CleryAct/collection.aspx>. It is published annually to provide safety policies, information, and statistics to the campus community.

The crimes are defined by the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting standards. Hate crimes are those listed, plus simple assault, when the crime was motivated by hostility to the victim’s real or perceived race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or disability.

Reported occurrences of criminal activity are made public in accordance with the “Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.”
