Alumni Honor Outstanding 6

Six people will be honored during the annual UCSB Alumni Association Awards Banquet on June 5 at Corwin Pavilion.

Marguerite Bouraad-Nash, UCSB lecturer in political science, will receive the association's Teaching Award. She specializes in international politics, particularly the politics of the Middle East.
Jeff Henley, '66, the former chief financial officer and current chair of Oracle Software, will receive a Distinguished Alumni Award.
Ishaq Shahryar, '61, M.A. '69, is Afghanistan's current ambassador to the United States, where he founded a leading solar cell manufacturing firm. He has been chosen to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award.
Businessman Kent Vining, '70, a former UC Alumni Associations president and alumni Regent, will receive the Graver Alumni Service Award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to former Tuskegee airman and 1970 member of the UCSB Alumni Association Board of Directors Lowell Steward, '42.
Television producer Marcy Carsey, who co-chairs the advisory board for the planned UCSB Center for Film, Television, and New Media and is a trustee of the UCSB Foundation, has been selected a Honorary Alumnus.
