Concern over the low number of women faculty
members hired and retained by the University of California led
to last week's all-campus forum "The Status of Women Faculty"
in the Corwin Pavilion. Keynoted by state Sen. Jackie Speier,
fourth from left, the audience of around 200 heard about gender
equity and salary issues from some of the people above: from left,
Dilling Yang, Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson, Claudine Michel,
Sen. Speier, Acting Executive Vice Chancellor Gene Lucas, Chancellor
Henry Yang, Janet Walker, Mark Rose, Anita Guerrini, Susan Koshy,
Sue McLeod, Margo Rosen, Maria Herrera-Sobek, and Ray Huerta.
