  • Reported Crimes About Stable for UCSB Properites

The number of violent crimes reported on UCSB properties in 2002 is the same or less than the low levels reported in 2001, according to Police Department records.
An attempted rape and an aggravated assault were reported on university-owned properties in Isla Vista and Santa Barbara. The one attempted rape was the same number as reported in 2001 and 2000; the one aggravated assault was two less than reported in the previous two years.
No homicides, rapes, or robberies were reported in 2002. Property crimes, however, had mixed results.
While the 178 bicycle thefts in 2002 were 40 less than in 2001 or 2000, the 29 burglaries reflected a rise of four from 2001 and an increase of six from 2000. There were 146 other thefts, 11 eleven less than 2001 and about the same as 2000. The five thefts of motor vehicles were four more than 2001 and two more than 2000.
