UCSB Site of Nov. 16-17 SAT Meeting
"Rethinking the SAT," a two-day conference at UCSB on the value of the Scholastic Aptitude Test in higher education admissions, will close registration on Oct. 16. All participants in the Nov. 16-17 event in Corwin Pavilion are asked to register on-line at
<www.senate.ucsb.edu/conference>, according to Marisela Marquez, director of special projects for the UCSB Academic Senate.
Keynoting the conference will be UC President Richard Atkinson, backed by featured speakers Gaston Caperton, president of the College Board; Richard Ferguson, president of ACT; and author Nicholas Lemann. Other speakers and resource people from most of the UC campuses and other universities will join in panel discussions and presentation of research papers.
Once registered on-line, information will be sent on how to pay the $90 fee that covers meals for both days. If registration is closed, individual sessions may be viewed live on the MultiCultural Center Theater's screen, Marquez said.
