  • Gevirtz Campus Tribute to Be June 4

A campus tribute to the life of the late Don Gevirtz, public education philanthropist and former ambassador to Fiji, is planned for June 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Phelps Hall courtyard of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
At the ceremony Gevirtz will be eulogized by Chancellor Henry Yang and Dean Jules Zimmer of the graduate school, elected officials, education leaders, family members, and friends. Gevirtz and his wife, Marilyn, were long-time benefactors of UCSB who were committed to improving public education through research and policy reform. Most recently they made a namesake gift to the professional school.
He was a visiting professor in the Global and International Studies Program and served on the UCSB Foundation Board. She is currently a trustee of the Board. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education in his memory. For information, call x7695.
