    CCS Grads Start Off FarewellS

    UCSB's College of Creative Studies (CCS) will hold commencement exercises for its 66 graduating seniors on June 10 at 1 p.m. in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall.
    The keynote address will be delivered by John La Puma, M.D., a 1978 graduate of the college, an internist, and professor of nutrition at Kendall College. He is the author of a new book, co-written with another physician, titled "The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger With What You Eat."
    Chancellor Henry T. Yang will preside over the ceremony and confer degrees with William J. Ashby, provost of the college. As is traditional, a performance of music written by CCS students will be a highlight of the afternoon's events.
    The College of Creative Studies was established in 1967 and offers eight emphases to students who are selected for their ability to do advanced, independent work. The emphases are in art, biology, chemistry, computer science, literature, music composition, mathematics, and physics. Currently, the college enrolls about 300 students. More than 80 percent of the CCS math and sciences students go on to graduate school.
    On June 16 and 17, Chancellor Yang will preside over six additional commencement ceremonies for College of Letters & Science and College of Engineering graduates, as well as for graduate students who will receive teaching credentials, master's, and doctoral degrees.
