CAMPUS NOTES An early morning fire on May 17 in a chemistry lab in Physical Sciences North was confined to Room 2658 by sprinklers, reported John Kennedy, fire protection division manager for Environmental Health & Safety. When the Fire Department arrived they had to deal with a small fire under a bench, which Kennedy said was the probable point of origin. Damage estimates are underway, and sources in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department say that a figure now is premature. Professor Guillermo Bazan, whose lab was damaged, said he hoped power and equipment could be restored quickly, but that his students' work had been effectively erased.
